April 14, 2006 13:44 - A couple of things about Season 3 in iF Magazine

Edward James Olmos will leave BATTLESTAR GALACTICA if a ‘bumpy headed alien’ appears. So there will be no alien races infringing on the series, and that is just one of the challenges facing the writers and producers of GALACTICA to keep each episode grounded in reality. Bradley Thompson is one of those writer-producers working everyday to produce quality shows week after week.

In part two of this exclusive iF Magazine interview, Thompson talks about killing off Pegasus' command crew, using the actors as great resources, and Laura Roslin’s destiny outside of the Presidency.

April 17, 2006 14:55 - BSG Nominated for the Spacey Awards

BSG is nominated in several categories for the Spaceys, awarded each year by the Space Channel (Canadian channel that shows BSG). Some of the awards are determined by viewer's choice online votes. BSG won last year for "Favourite Limited TV Show". In a sea of boring television award shows, the SPACEYS is the only one that avoids podiums and red carpets.

April 17, 2006 15:00 - BSG Writiers Podcast, Part 2 Available

If you haven't had a chance download part 2 of the writers' podcast of the episode, Scar. In this segment they continue to discuss the possibility of releasing Sharon as well as the general shape of the episode. Interestingly the conflict between Kat and Kara was originally even more heated and obnoxious. There's a lot of material here about the writing process and about the episode itself. Worth a listen while we await the premiere.

Battlestar is good, but should it have a different title?
Posted Apr 17th 2006 10:51AM by Bob Sassone

Now here's an opinion that's sure to get the comments field going: author John Kenneth Muir really loves the new Battlestar Galactica. He thinks that the show deserves all of the accolades and awards and popularity that it has garnered in the past couple of years. But here's the thing: he doesn't think it should be called Battlestar Galactica:

"...my problem begins and ends with the fact that it's called Battlestar Galactica. The original series has been used as a 'brand name' by Ron Moore to do something totally new, something unfaithful, something he wanted to do. That's fine, and some people obviously like what he's done very much. But it shouldn't be called Battlestar Galactica."

April 18, 2006 12:35 - Starbuck is in for a rough ride

SciFi.com has added another article about Starbuck in season 3, adding to what we know about from the Comingsoon.net article:

- A FEW SPOILERS - BEWARE -

VANCOUVER, Canada - Katee Sackhoff, who plays fighter pilot Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on SCI FI Channel's original series Battlestar Galactica , told SCI FI Wire that her character is in for a rough time - and a new haircut - in the show's upcoming third season. Speaking in an interview on the set here of her new film, White Noise 2: The Light, Sackhoff said: "I just lost a huge battle with the producers as to my hair and what length it should and should not be." (Sackhoff's blonde hair was streaked with bright red for her role in the supernatural horror sequel film White Noise 2.) "So it's going to be gone. Shorter than it was in the miniseries, in line but not quite as short as Natalie Portman in V For Vendetta.

Sackhoff said to look for a big change in the fifth episode of the upcoming third season, after four episodes that tax the already beat-up Starbuck to her limits and kind of re-establishes her commitment to the military in episode five, which is the reason for the haircut.

Also look for a new love interest for Starbuck in the new season, though Sackhoff remained coy about whether the new relationship will survive those first four episodes. "There is another man that comes into her life," Sackhoff said. "And it's a very unlikely man. Everyone is going to be so livid over it." Don't think it will be a reawakening of Lee Adama then.

Battlestar Galactica returns with new episodes in October. White Noise 2 is in production, with an eye to a 2007 release.
